Most of us have got a mirror in our home somewhere, with the bathroom and bedroom being the most common areas you would expect to find them.
But did you know that mirrors are more than a tool to use to check you are looking alright before you head out the door? Mirrors are actually terrific home decoration pieces which are perfect for small living spaces.
Small spaces in our homes and offices can look dark and cramped, but with thoughtful selection of the right mirror and clever placement of it, a mirror is the best friend a small living space will ever have!
Not only do they reflect light and make your living space seem brighter, but they also trick the eye into believing that the room is bigger than it actually is.
Four Mirror Ideas
But before you go decorating your rooms with mirrors, there are four mirror rules you need to be aware of. They are:
- Hang mirrors to get the best possible light reflection you can, such as opposite windows or doors.
- Be brave and use mirrored furniture as statement pieces. But keep it small such as using mirrored door handles or side table tops as too much mirrored furniture can be garish.
- Place mirrors in creative places and in different rooms. Living areas are perfect for mirrors, so include them in your living, kitchen and dining rooms.
- Bigger is better when it comes to small spaces and mirrors. A large mirror in a small space will make the area seem larger, while a small mirror in a small place just emphasizes how small the room actually is.
