British furniture designer James Shaw is making a major move to change how the world views plastic by creating amazing one of-a-kind pieces of furniture. He believes that plastic is not viewed with the same positive feelings that other furniture materials such as wood are and he hopes his baroque inspired furniture changes the public’s perception.

Creating Furniture With Hot Recycled Plastic
Furniture is created by melting recycled plastic which is fed through a type of large extrusion gun, similar to a giant hot glue gun. Out of the tip comes a rope-like length of moulded plastic which looks similar to strands of Play-doh, which are folded and twisted together to make the frame of the furniture.
A Designer Combining Art & Recycling
Whether or not designer plastic furniture is going to be welcomed more into our homes, is still unknown. Yet Mr Shaw is positive that one day this will change and that designers like him are part of the solution to changing the world’s views about plastic.
A & A Plastic Strip Curtains
This is a great idea and anything that involves recycling is a positive for everyone. Many years ago, we started out with plastic strip curtains but now we mainly satisfy Perth’s insatiable appetite for making outdoor living spaces more liveable.
