Mesh or PVC Outdoor Blinds, Which One?
When choosing between mesh or PVC outdoor blinds, it all comes down to the position of the area you want the blinds fitted, and when you most use that area. You can choose one, the other, or even a combination of the two.
Shade Mesh
North or west facing areas that cop the hot sun and wind during summer would benefit the most from shade mesh.
Some customers have told us there’s a 10 degree difference after shade mesh outdoor blinds were installed.
Having the ability to pull down the shade mesh when the sun gets intense is amazing and you’ll be able to make full use of such an outdoor area.
In winter, the shade mesh material will also cut the wind and rain so it’s a good year round solution. Creates privacy, too.
PVC
For south or east facing areas, or any well shaded areas, PVC plastic would be more suitable.
Clear PVC gives you maximum light in cooler months and a barrier against wind and rain. There are even tinted PVC options if you prefer.
PVC outdoor blinds turn your patio or verandah into an enclosed room when down so you can use it during colder months. In summer, the blinds would be more of a windbreak for when the breeze comes in and you don’t want things blowing everywhere.
Either way, it’s finger tip control to set the exact height of the blinds.
Combination of Shade Mesh and PVC
Some outdoor areas have a hot side and cool side so having a combination or PVC and mesh would be something to consider.
You may have a south facing patio that would benefit from PVC plastic blinds to stop wind and rain, however the western end isn’t shaded and gets hammered by the hot afternoon sun in summer.
In this case, you may wish to have clear PVC plastic outdoor blinds on the south side, but with shade mesh outdoor blinds on the western end. That way you could pull them down to the desired height to create shade during the afternoon.
